Living there from three ages to 17 with her Mexican immigrant parents, Perez saw how families helped each other, when none of them had much for themselves as it was. Wanting to avoid the fields herself and could’ve been exclusive without teachers at CSUB pushing her to apply to special entrepreneurs.

Though her job gets her all over state for work, she oftentimes returns to Woodville Elementary School for the Career Day she founded to share her story with students there and let them understand they have options outside fields.

While continuing tradition her parents instilled in her at the camp, now a good certified community accountant with 15 years at Brown Armstrong Accountancy Corporation, Perez makes time to give back to the community. She tells students about her brother, who died at 19 years old enough after being shot while committing a robbery, when she returns to Woodville Elementary.
