Can I have one of everything please.) I wish I could sew, my mum is a fabulous sewer and I am always envious of people that can sew. WOW! Certainly, I will LOVE to be able to. I have no patience. My favorite pattern was the one for the long dresses. I have my great grandmother’s Singer sewing machine from the 40’s but I have only used it twice for small repairs. To be honest I can only dream of sewing, like you Jessica. Now let me tell you something. I took a class once. What a gorgeous bunch of patterns and a great idea with all the forties!

I have read about the sewalong on Rochelle’s blog and should love to join in but am not sure my sewing skills are up to it yet! I love the skirt suits and the Vogue hats and bag. I am not much of a sewer, unlike many in our circle. Perhaps one day -goodness knows I’d love to be able to knock out some fantastic garments made with vintage patterns -but for the time being, I content to admire the marvelous sewing projects of others. Oftentimes given that I find sewing to be fairly challenging on me from a physical standpoint, that said, this isn’t something I’ve pursed in recent years, like most skills. Perhaps a perfect teacher, and loads of trial and error. Sewing isn’t a talent that the universe blessed me with in any capacity, I’m quite sure I know the basics and have -many years ago -made a few simple projects.

I’m Jessica, a lifelong lover of all things antique and vintage, especially those from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. School got in the way, By the way I too am not much of a sewer. Consequently I even bought a really new sewing machine last fall in hopes it should persuade me to practice more. For example, once I have gained enough skill I really hope to be apart of the sew alongs. I am planning and was for quite some amount of time to figure out how to sew, and am so excited for summer as that when I plan on devouting my spare time to. EBAY is your friend, if you would really like to get your hands on some antique garments I can say that with ebay it can really be very affordable to do so.

Accordingly the other thing is measurements, a bit of this stuff is quite small.very common to see 32 bust and 24 and under waist! Now let me ask you something. Like blouses, sturdy whitish linen/cotton and similar items, camisoles, petticoats etc can easily be pretty and very wearable, I feel far more so than 40s, 50s clothing which is what you usually focus on?although Surely it’s somewhat wearable, it’s only just wearable really if you know what I mean -I would never dream of wearing it for almost a short period, let alone out of the house, however, I do have other items that are edwardian or thereabouts that I can wear out -&gt.

Therefore in case you keep an eye on the listings you can easily pick up some reasonably priced antique clothing I don’t know why but US EBAY is better for this.

I truly hope to one day, I’m not planning on buying any Victorian items in the immediate future.

On top of that, you’d have an easier time finding a zebra in my town than you should a shop selling a Victorian garment. Indeed, ebay should be the first place I’d likely go searching if I was planning to buy my first Victorian piece. I’ve always had a deeply rooted passion for historical clothing from all pre60s eras and was nothing short of obsessed with Victorian fashion when I was a little girl, while my personal wardrobe does center around 1940s and 50s items. I’ve used both to buy the bulk of my vintage wardrobe over the years, especially since I’ve tended to live in places with the position. Whenever storing and wearing, my dear, thanks again, I appreciate your pointers regarding sizing. It is rereleasing a certain amount their older patterns. I’ve picked up a few for around $ 5 any during their sales. So if only more pattern companies will reproduce plenty of classic patterns from their archives. Nonetheless, absolutely! Then again, I think part of the reason I love them a lot is simply since the illustrations of the women are so wonderful! Eventually, I completely agree, vintage patterns are so compelling. Oh my lord, you really know how to pick em! Like they’re all from old school comic books about an investigative reporters who bakes amazing pies, there’s something perfect about the art style. Usually, I’m more of a resourceful sewer that makes better out of what she can. Fact, I really do need to try my hand at this. Please do not think I will ever have the time or inclination to tackle one of these projects, To be honest I have some decent sewing skills. I do enjoy checking out other ladies’ projects online. As the years have rolled on, I’ve gotten quite good at learning how to dress it so that it looks it best, my body is a million miles away from ideal. You see, I also find crafting incredibly relaxing and therapeutic, and know just what you mean about how sewing/crafting helps you handle stress, like yourself. Love Vogue 9650 hat with veiling under the chin. Actually I rarely find vintage clothes in my size, since I am a size 20. I’m glad as long as my body wants to co operate well enough, I also handle stress by crafting. Actually, with my large bust, with teh added bonus of them actually fitting ME, misshapen ribcage high hip and short legs, sewing is my way of getting clothes in a vintag estyle. You, in addition, seem to have the perfect figure for vintage dresses -it is always a joy to watch you. Most was used and re used until it fell to pieces, the ’40s are my favourtie and Europe was really poor back thence, thence tehre ain’t so much left of it. If I had to pick a favorite it should probably be the ‘swimsuitit”s divine, we are looking at great.
