Couture with culture! Though she racked up Then the ’18yearold’ was tossing around the idea of wearing a African print dress to the event when a whitish administrator reportedly told her that it’d be tacky. Zanders, who plans to pursue fashion and modeling, told ABC News that the person who discouraged her from wearing the dress has sinceapologized for the statements. Makalaya Zanders, a high school senior in Cleveland, Ohio, chose a prom dress that was stylish and made a statement at similar time.

Really though, now this article is over nothing.

Maybe mostly there’s more to the story that wasn’t included in the article. Normally, maybe the administrator thought it was tacky being that she didn’t like the print. Everyone wants to look like they’re fighting the good fight for something. What if the person was whitish? Not every print or style is for everybody. What point is she proving?

That doesn’t mean they’re prejudiced against me in some way, So in case I wear an outfit that someone doesn’t like. It’s a well-known fact that the article says that the girl was merely tossing around the idea of wearing a African print dress. As a result, just the mere idea of a African print dress was enough for admin so believe it will be tacky. In this case, it looks like the student found a tasteful way to show that without being inflammatory with her words or actions. People need to get over themselves. There’s no indication that the student was doing best in order to turn this into a blackish or almost white issue. Considering the above said. a single thing the student was making an attempt to do is make the point that African print clothes and African culture can be beautiful. Of course that’s about as ridiculous as someone saying that a floral print dress would’ve been tacky without knowing anything else about it. Consequently, the administrator had no info what the dress would look like or what color, shape, or print it must be. That said, what’s wrong with that, this is the case right? It looks like that was just the media’s doing. Good for her. That doesn’t mean that differences can’t be appreciated and respected, pC kick now, and that’s cool.

It all goes back to what I originally said -there was no point to be made, when you ask what’s wrong with that.

None really, except that’s what the admin thought, that’s what was said, and they had the right to say it. They tend to be a bit more sensitive than others anyway. Nevertheless, the student had the right to respond the way she wanted. They have no vision whenever it boils down to design. One person -just one -said it must be tacky. Ok, and now one of the most important parts., I could see plenty of people dismissing something with a floral print. It was the girl’s right to make a point, regardless of whether you agree the point should have been made or not or if there was even one to be made. Speaking of points, what was the point of the administrator saying they thought African prints are tacky, am I correct? She’s a teen. People get like that. Which, I believe, she did so quite tastefully.

Lol, I’m not really even sure what you’re point is. It’s all very anticlimactic. Administrator said what they did, she wore the dress. For instance, your original comment did sound like you were putting that more on the student, maybe it wasn’t your intention. You’re responding to things I didn’t even say. Anyway, that’s what I’m getting at. If the student wanted to wear the dress in response to what an admin said, at the end of the day, it’s her right to do so, regardless of whether anyone thinks a response was warranted or not. On top of that, at least that’s the way it read to me. Article makes it seem like she did this really big thing by wearing this dress all as long as one person made a generalized statement that an african print dress would’ve been tacky. Certainly, oh well. Just think for a moment. My apologies, if I misread.

Whenever being proud of her culture speaking her mind, she looks gorgeous, Know what guys, I am happy to see a young woman finishing school.

That said, there’s absolutely nothing inappropriate about it. Therefore, as long as Im not exposing bits and pieces. I dont think that anyone has the right to stop me. Im willing to bet money that people think that a few of my outfits are tacky. These people are there to guide our children encourage them, not belittle them Personally, I reckon the dress is absolutely horrid. Also, that being said, we are only getting 1 the story side. Notice, you know what they say, there’s 3 sides to a story. Tacky? For instance, she must have been allowed to wear it. Yours, theirs the truth. She is proud of her culture.
